Marshall Cavendish Education (MCE) once again highlighted our expertise in delivering the latest e-Learning products and solutions at the 5th International Conference on Teaching and Learning with Technology (iCTLT 2016) held at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre, Singapore on 30-31 March 2016.
Over 2,000 delegates and visitors attended the conference. The majority of them were key personnel and educators at K-12 schools, Foreign System Schools, Institute of Higher Learning, and Learning and Enrichment Centres. Also in attendance were educators and business owners of Private Education Institutions, Professional Associations, and Government Bodies from 26 countries. In addition, Minister Ng Chee Meng and representatives from the Ministry of Education in Brunei graced the event.
Visitors had a first-hand experience of our products through the demonstrations conducted at the exhibition booth. MCE General Manager of Product Development, Chng Eng Leok personally gave Minister Ng a demonstration of our latest innovations at our booth.
In a 30-minute concurrent presentation session, we showcased the implementation and shared insights we gleaned from our pilot MCEduworld from the perspective of an actual school.
Entitled “Analytics for Differentiated Teaching and Learning by Fuhua Primary School”, the presentation showed how analytics can empower both teachers and students. Using a digital learning product, teachers can discover connections that can help them further improve their teaching methods and determine exactly what areas they need to put additional focus. Students, meanwhile, get lessons that are more personalised to their needs, making them more interested in their school work, and learn at a pace that’s more suitable for them. Presenters in this session were representatives from Fuhua Primary School: Finella Tan, Phua Kia Wang, and its HOD ICT, Ho Kon Soon.
In addition to this session, we also held two 45-minute talks that featured our Maths Learning Solution and eBook360.
Mr Chris Siew gave a talk entitled “Enhancing E-learning Experience of Maths with Differentiated Instruction” where he discussed how e-Learning can help provide students with better learning experience when studying Mathematics by offering them content that caters to their individual abilities, pace, and learning style. Aside from Mr Siew, participating schools also shared their learning experience using the Maths Learning Solution. The use of the solution was also showcased to demonstrate how it can help ease the development of conceptual understanding of Mathematics.
Another talk was given by an ICT educator, Li Andy and Chief Curriculum Development Officer of Hong Kong’s Education Bureau, She Mang. Entitled “An All-inclusive eTextbook as a Teaching Facilitator in the Cyber Era”, the session focused on the speakers’ thoughts and ideas of the direction and development of ICT in Hong Kong. This is in line with MCE’s goal to develop a holistic all-in-one and cross-platform electronic textbook through the integration of key elements of learning into one program such as self-directed learning, assessment for learning, motivated learning, and student profiling.
Apart from the talks, MCE was also a Gold Sponsor at the event, which is a prestigious biennial conference that features innovative educational technology for the 21st century.
